South Region Round of 64 Picks

Everyone's favorite time of the year if you're a college basketball fan has finally arrived it is March Madness. Four regions, 68 teams and one national champion will be crowned. As everyone fills out their bracket it is time to get to picking. We begin in the South as we pick the Round of 64.

No.1 Alabama vs No.16 Texas A&M-CC/ SE Missouri State

Pick: Alabama

As we begin picking it is no surprise that I think the Tide move on. Not too much to this one, they should be favorites to come out of the South.

No.8 Maryland vs No.9 West Virginia

Pick: West Virginia

Maryland put together a good first season under head coach Kevin Willard. Stringing together a nice run in the regular season finds themselves back in the tournament. But in this case I think that West Virginia gets the better led by the coaching of Huggins who has no stranger to dancing. The Mountaineers will go on to play Bama.

No.5 SDSU vs No.12 Charleston

Pick: SDSU

The first game where I see people jumping to find their 12 seed win is right here. But even with the struggles of the Moutain West I think this game is different. Even with how good of a season Charleston has been I don't think it is enough to cause the upset.

No.4 Virginia vs No.13 Furman

Pick: Virginia

Call me lazy or not fun but I just don't see them losing this game after seeing this Cavilers team in Greensboro this defense will take them past the first game. It was fun while it lasted for Furman, but I have a feeling the run will not last long.

No.6 Crieghton vs No.11 NC State

Pick: NC State

Here is my upset pick for South region. I know Creighton has looked like a top end team, but they still ended up not looking how I thought they should. NC State may be a surprising pick with their loss to Clemson in the ACC tournament, but both of these teams haven't looked consistent.

No.7 Missouri vs No.10 Utah State

Pick: Mizzou

While Utah State put up a good season and losing to top seed San Diego State in the Moutian West tournament

No.2 Arizona vs No.15 Princeton

Pick: Zona

It's fun to think that a 15 seed can pull the upset, but this will not be the case. Arizona is one of my teams to make a run this March and it begins with a sound round one victory.
